Issue Number Three, and Counting...

Phil Welcome! Glad you dropped by. Marsha and I have had a busy two months. We've started a new Volvo project: the restoration of the 1800S we bought recently. In this issue we cover the first challenge we faced -- just getting the car home! Next, we took a two-week camping vacation all around the north Pacific coast. We didn't expect this trip to have much to do with Volvos, but it surprised us, so there's an article on what we found there. In addition to our usual Classified Ads, we are featuring the Stephane Lapointe parts catalog -- Stephane is selling thousands of Volvo parts, both new and used, and we thought this to be so valuable a resource that we gave him his own section. In future issues, we will try to connect you with many more specialty suppliers by accepting selected paid advertising -- the Visitor's Poll is intended to help us find out just what sort of things you want to see in the ads. Finally, we just ran our 122S in the annual Volvo Sports America vs Alfa Romeo Owners Club Time-Speed-Distance rally and had a great time, and we'll cover that event in a future issue.

Repeat visitors will notice that the features and departments on this site vary from issue to issue as we try to offer something of interest to all fans of classic Volvos. We strongly encourage visitors to contribute material -- if you have a Volvo story to tell, a club event to report on, an interesting photo, a product you'd like to review, or advice to give or to get, we'd love to hear from you. It doesn't need to be anything fancy -- we'll make a place for it somewhere. Don't be shy!

Experienced web "surfers" may be struck that this site is pretty "low tech:" there's no Java, sound or animation, and the use of frames has been kept to a minimum. At the risk of sounding like we're making a virtue out of something we don't have, let me state that this is done deliberately in the interest of ensuring access to everyone, whether you have the latest software and the fastest connection or not. This site is about Volvos, not computers, and we try to make it as balanced, comfortable and intuitive to use as the cars we love.

We look forward to hearing from you. Enjoy, and keep 'em rolling!
