To Our Subscribers:
As we all know, life has a way of overtaking the best of intentions. My life is very different now than it was when we first conceived of issuing VClassics in a print edition back in 1998. Increasing demands in my employment and from other professional commitments have caused us to fall further and further behind our publication schedule for over a year now, and nothing I've been able to change has permitted us to catch up.
It's been a long time now that I've been thinking, "Something's got to give." I'd hoped that circumstances would somehow change, but they show no signs of doing so -- if anything, my professional workload, and the backlog in that area, have continued to grow. No person can make everyone happy, but the point has been reached where I am making no one happy, not even myself. As much as I regret it, the decision point has been reached, and the only thing that has any "give" to it is the print edition. I am myself surprised to come to that conclusion, but it's the only sensible one I can reach.
We will be refunding your subscription payments on a pro-rated basis as soon as possible -- no one will have paid for any issues they will not receive. A limited number of all 13 issues of the print edition remain available.
I wish to thank you all very, very much for your support and sincerely hope you enjoyed the magazine. It's with real regret that I must pull the plug on it. It may return someday when circumstances really are different, but I have no plans for continuing it as a periodical at this time.
Thank you again, from the bottom of my heart.
To Our Web Readers:
Part of the deal about issuing VClassics in print, right from the very start, was that the Web edition was not to be diminished in any way. At first that worked out, but lately, despite my best efforts, it has been -- and I am unwilling for that state of affairs to continue. We began on the Web, we made a name for ourselves on the Web, and we have thousands of readers on the Web who are not being served as well as I would like.
I'm very proud of what we accomplished with our print edition, but when faced with being able to publish only one version, preserving and restoring the Web edition to what it should be clearly represents the greatest good for the greatest number. It's the inevitable choice.
It's time to get this thing back on track. Beginning with a September-October issue, we will resume publishing a new issue every two months. Let us make a new start and see just how great we can make VClassics be for everyone who loves classic Volvos.
See you on line!
