As the weather turns nice, people enjoy taking road trips, so we've got a few of those in this issue. First, Lee "VolvoGirl" Holman takes her '80 GT on the road to visit OJ Rallye Automotive and Road America. Not to be outdone, Harvey Ferris tells us about his family's 8000-mile, two-Volvo, multiple teenager, backpack toting, kayak mulching tour of the country. Wow! All Marsha and I could come up with is a small day trip to the Washington coast -- well, that's Life in Cascadia. Of course, many people took a trip to the Santa Rosa meet. As I write, that event just ended, so we don't have all the pictures from it yet -- but we'll be adding more as the issue progresses. To tide us over in the pretty picture department, we're holding over 3 Days in Gothenburg -- Aviv Peres shows us that no one does a Volvo meet like the Swedes (not surprisingly, perhaps). RPR proprietor Rusty Cohn collects miniature Volvo models and David Spieler visited to photograph them. David says it was a tough shoot; high winds kept blowing his backdrops away. We think the pics look just fine anyway -- thanks, guys! Just to round out the beauty contest, we're delighted that Peter Reed sent in shots of his "new" 1800ES, one of very few in Australia. In fact, I was so pleased with them that they're featured in our first Star Cars from down under. Not that we've neglected the technical side of the issue. Cameron Lovre gives us a step-by-step guide to converting an Amazon to rear disk brakes, and reports on the latest from Bob Moreno and the Amazon restoration project under way at The Works. As for me, I've attempted to explain D-Jetronic fuel injection and give a few clues about troubleshooting the beastie. Astute readers may notice (well, now that I'm saying it, everyone will notice) that Associate Editor David A. Hueppchen and our Foreign Affairs correspondent Mark Hershoren are missing from this issue. David's racing season is in full swing; between that and writing a regular racing column for our sister print magazine, he's got his hands full for the moment. As for Mark, we sent him to report on the Volvos of American Samoa and he's somehow ended up running for governor by popular acclaim (yes, Mark, we will be shipping your sharkskin suit as soon as the cleaners get that last stain out). Either that, or he's just too darn pooped from hanging drywall on a major expansion to his house -- you decide. Both will be back soon. In the meanwhile, you can still read lots of good stuff from David and Mark in the final run of the Fall Festival Supplement -- we'll be taking it off line when this issue ends. So enjoy!
